Introduction

 Blog Activity 1: Introduction.

Hello everyone, my name is Pamela Ukah, and I reside in Richmond, TX. I lived in Chicago, where I obtained my Occupational Therapy (OT) degree at Chicago State University in 2013, before moving to Houston, TX, in 2016 after meeting my husband. I have three children, ages 7, 5, and 4.

For the past decade, I have wholeheartedly dedicated myself to the practice of Occupational Therapy. My journey has led me to gain invaluable experience in diverse settings. I've had the privilege of working with children in a home health setting, where I provided therapy to help them overcome developmental challenges. In the geriatrics-home health (HH) and skilled nursing facilities (SNF) settings, I've had the opportunity to assist elderly patients in their function and independence in occupational performance. I pour my heart and soul into my full-time role at a SNF and offer my PRN services in other facilities.

My hobbies include cooking and traveling, with my favorite cities being San Juan and Brussels. One positive characteristic that I value in myself is my patience. This trait has helped me not only in my personal life but also in my professional life. In my job, patience is crucial. It reminds my co-workers and me to remain optimistic, even when things are not going well. It's this patience that has helped me persevere and continue to strive for excellence in my field.

One of my deepest passions lies in women's health. I am eager to gain in-depth knowledge about this field from this course. I've always been deeply invested in women's health issues, and I am confident that this knowledge will be instrumental in my goal of becoming a pelvic floor therapist. This area of practice is not just a career choice for me but a calling, as I want to empower women to regain control and enhance their quality of life.
